The Boondocks season 5 release will finally take place after the fourth season debuted in 2014. This confirmation comes via John Witherspoon, who’s known for voicing Granddad Freedom.

The confirmation of the fifth season of The Boondocks was dropped by Witherspoon when he talked to Joe Rogan during an interview. Before it was revealed, the entire discussion revolves around a belief that the actor got all his success from being who he simply was.

“I’m on the cartoon—what is it? The Boondocks? I didn’t change my voice for The Boondocks. “And they coming back. The Boondocks is coming back … The Boondocks is one of the best cartoons I’ve ever been on,” Witherspoon said.
While this may sound good news to all fans of The Boondocks, many fans are anxious about the fifth season being unable to stand in equity to the past seasons.
Season 4 of the Boondocks was disappointing for many fans
Talking about the first three seasons specifically, one should recall that the fourth season was received negatively by many fans and also critics as the original creator Aaron McGruder was absent from the scene. While we still don’t know if McGruder is a part of the fifth season, many fans are worried about the fact that the whole storyline will be suffering due to no guidance from the talented cartoonist.
Sony needs to get McGruder back for the Boondocks
Going by how Sony and McGruder parted their ways, one should understand why fans are worried about the upcoming season of the Boondocks series. Sony wanted McGruder to make three episodes in a week, which is way too much for anyone to handle. This is why McGruder went on to quit the show. This information was revealed by Witherspoon himself who talked to radio jockey and journalist Sway Calloway. Nothing too substantial has been announced yet about the fifth season of The Boondocks except the confirmation made by Witherspoon.
Sony and McGruder will hopefully find a way to come across somewhere in-between the Boondocks series as it needs to come back with the entertainment and political industry coming across many scandals over the years. The fifth season of The Boondocks May even come up with the second part of R. Kelly as the rapper who landed in trouble after multiple women alleged him of sexual abuse and harassment.
