The Boys, the popular Prime Video series based on the DC/Wildstorm and Dynamite comic series, is set to continue beyond its upcoming fourth season. The show debuted in 2019 and has already run for three seasons. The series’ plot revolves around a team of anti-heroes who aim to take down a group of superheroes called The Seven, who are corrupt and have their agendas.
The superhit dark comedy series was Prime Video’s most streamed show of 2022. It beat the likes of big-budget shows like The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. It’s undoubtedly, been one of the most talked about shows in today’s pop culture, with many memes and references from the show floating on the internet.
Is The Boys Season 5 confirmed to release?
On his Twitter account, the showrunner Eric Kripke gave fans a hint of what’s to come in The Boys, revealing that the show’s fourth season has been in production since August of the previous year and is nearing completion. Kripke also hinted at the possibility of a fifth season, assuring fans that the fourth season finale would not be the end of the series. In typical Kripke fashion, he even poked fun at the show’s lack of a release date, quipping that “S4 premieres… at some point in the future in our discernible reality.”

The Boys Season 5: Release Date
Amazon Studios hasn’t officially announced a release date for the upcoming Season 4. The filming for the third season had completed in August 2021. Ten months later, The Boys Season 3 premiered on July 8, 2022, on Prime Video. Since filming for Season 4 wrapped in January this year, we can expect Season 4 to release between August – October.
Consequently, If we’re being optimistic, Season 5 might release after July 2024.
The Boys Season 5: Plot
As of now, there’s no indication of what the plot for Season 5 is going to be.
What do we know about the upcoming Season 4?
Season 4 is billed to be the biggest season of the series yet, with multiple new characters set to be introduced. The new faces joining the cast for its upcoming season include Rosemarie DeWitt from Black Mirror, who will be portraying the role of Hughie’s mother, previously thought to be lost. Other new cast members include Rob Benedict from Supernatural, Elliot Knight from Titans, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan from The Walking Dead, whose specific roles have not yet been revealed. Featuring an impressive ensemble cast including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Elisabeth Shue, and Jensen Ackles, The Boys has become a fan favorite and shows no signs of slowing down.
As mentioned earlier, filming was wrapped earlier this year, and we can expect the hit superhero series to drop in the latter half of the year.
