Carlos Correa and the New York Mets are not a done deal yet. The two have not signed any contract officially. Other teams still have an opportunity to sign the free agent. The Minnesota Twins are still a part of the free agency of Carlos Correa.
According to the former general manager of Cincinaati Reds, the Twins are ready to take more risk than the New York Mets. Many still question about the surgically repaired lower leg of Carlos, but the Twins are not afraid.
There are several rumors that the Mets are not interested in negotiating with Carlos anymore. According to Andy Martino, the New York Mets are unable to negotiate and they are frustrated. The Mets are unable to sign a new deal considering the risks of Correa’s injury.
In principal, Correa and the Mets agreed to a 12 year contract for $315 million in December 2021. However, after gaining knowledge about Correa’s injury, the deal fell apart. The contract never saw the light of the day as the Mets were afraid to take such a huge risk. Correa’s injury might present issues that could be a serious threat to his career.

Despite everything, there was hope that Carlos and the Mets will come to some sort of negotiation and sign a contract. But now, other teams have started showing interest.
During his free agency, Carlos chose Minnesota instead of the Houston Astros. The contract was for 3 years at $35.1 million/year. But Carlos exercised the opt-out option after the MLB Season in 2022. Since then, Carlos has been searching for other options.
Corey Seager was offered a $325 million deal for 10 years, while Francisco Lindor got an offer for $341 million for 10 years.
