The unsettling portrayal of the renowned serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in Netflix’s new true crime series has horrified fans.
The events of the television program Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, in which Evan Peters plays the “Milwaukee Cannibal,” take place from the 1970s through the early 1990s.
Before being apprehended by the authorities and imprisoned in 1992, one of America’s most sick serial killers savagely murdered and mutilated the bodies of 17 men and boys, many of whom were non-white and some of whom were young.
The ten-part documentary tells the story of Dahmer’s rise to power and his murderous rampage from the perspectives of the victims whose lives were impacted by institutionalized racism and police failings.

Since the show’s September 22 debut, many viewers have already found the gory visuals too much to bear. It was produced by Ryan Murphy of American Horror Story.
One user commented: “The most recent Jeffrey Dahmer Netflix series… couldn’t even finish the first show without having the want to vomit. We already know what he did, but this was abhorrently awful.”
“Dahmer series so disgusting and dark absolutely had to turn it off,” said another.
Another person said: “I tried watching that new Jeffrey Dahmer show on Netflix, but I had to turn it off since the vibe it was giving off was so gloomy.”
“This Jeffrey Dahmer show sum serious, unbelievable, terrible and very much disturbing,” a fourth person remarked.

On the other side, viewers have applauded the show for not glorifying the serial murderer because it portrays him as a monstrous figure and emphasizes the errors made by Wisconsin police forces during their hunt for him.
If anyone believes that the Dahmer series was created to elevate a different serial killer, they are categorically mistaken, according to one user. It completely portrays him as the monster he was, leaving me with tears in my eyes and making me queasy.
One person added: “I was kind of annoyed that there was another Jeffrey Dahmer Netflix series, but I believe this one was necessary. The majority of the time, serial killer shows feature attractive personas. Sometimes they even get close to glorifying the real person.
If anyone thinks that the Dahmer series was made to glorify another serial killer, it definitely doesn't. It left me with tears in my eyes and had me sick to my stomach, and 100% paints him as the monster he was

I was kinda pissed that there was another Jeffrey dahmer show on Netflix but I think this one was needed. Most the time serial killer shows get portrayed with an attractive persona. And sometime they almost glorify the actual person. But this new show is just repulsing.

The majority of Dahmer’s murders featured cannibalism and necrophilia. He was determined to be legally sane to attend his trial despite having been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and psychotic disorder.
The deranged murderer, who was found guilty of 16 killings, died at the age of 34 after being beaten to death by another prisoner in 1994, two years into his sentence.
In addition to Richard Jenkins as Lionel Dahmer, Niecy Nash plays Glenda Cleveland, Molly Ringwald plays Shari Dahmer, and Michael Beach plays Detective Murphy.
The complete 10-episode run of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is currently available on Netflix.
