Anyone who doesn’t live under a rock has watched the science fiction drama on Netflix called The Umbrella Academy. And now there is a reason to rejoice for the fans – the show has been renewed for a second season, The Umbrella Academy Season 2.
A recent report by Variety stated that the show has received a recommission by the streaming service.
The comic book
It is based on a comic book by Gerard Way, the lead singer of My Chemical Romance. So far, only the comic book readers know what happens after that goosebumps-inducing ending of season 1. The rest of us are waiting to see what happens after the world ends and where our heroes are headed next.
Gerard Way is working with artist Gabriel Ba on the comic series. For now, only 2 of the planned 8 volumes of the comic book have been released. The third volume is scheduled to come out this August. For The Umbrella Academy Season 2 to continue, there is plenty of plotline left in the second series to be covered, so fans can rest easy.
On being asked about the upcoming volumes of the comic series, Way said,
“The idea with the comic is to go right from Series 3, take a three-to-four-month break, then go right into Series 4.”
He also added,
“That is kind of our schedule to keep us on track. So there is a story there and it’s all planned out.”
The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Plot
The show features 7 extraordinary human beings who were born to random unpregnant women throughout the world and were later adopted by a billionaire. All the children show some extraordinary and superhuman abilities, and their billionaire father raises them to save humanity and the world.
Although a release date has not yet been confirmed for The Umbrella Academy Season 2, filming will begin in Toronto in summer.
