The fans of The Walking Dead have been the constant witness to their favourite characters especially leaders leaving. But Daryl Dixon might not be the same person anymore because no one on the show is in agreement with that and would really want to see that happening.
Who is the next leader on The Walking Dead expected to be?
With The Walking Dead Season 9 coming to an end fans are getting more and more anxious as to what will The Walking Dead Season 10 will have instore for us especially after a season like this where The Whisperers and their leader Alpha (played by Sumatran Morton) were introduced.
But the introduction of such characters has taken away some amazing leaders from the show like Rick Grimes, whose shoes would not easy to fulfill. Although Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is one name that comes to our minds but as per Father Gabriel it may be a very bad decision.
What do the existing characters have to say?
While an interview with Express UK, Gilliam was heard stating that the kind of leader Rick was is not the kind of character he can embody.
“I don’t know if you want to put a lot of words into Daryl’s mouth, because I think he communicates in other ways,” Gilliam was heard saying.
Gilliam also said “And I don’t think that’s a comfortable thing that people will accept.” Gilliam ended by saying
“Oh, suddenly the guy’s who’s very quiet and intense is giving these speeches and I think Norman (Reedus) feels the same way about that as well, that it would be little out of character,”
Will Daryl will able to fulfill the shoes of a leader on The Walking Dead?
Most of the actors on the show believe that Daryl should do the same because something like this does not come to him effortlessly.
The character of Father Gabriel is also of the opinion that there need not be any one leader and the most they should do to lead is “by committee”.
“I think Father Gabriel is of the mind that you need more than just one voice to lead, so I don’t see him advocating to be the leader of any one group,” he said.
“I think that even with Michonne deferring to him to sign the charter. He signs it with the idea that he’s signing it for everybody and not necessarily himself.”
Gilliam had also added that Michonne is steadfast in her need to be the defender and protector of Alexandria, which takes as much focus and energy as a person could have.
“So, I’m not sure who would be left to be a sole leader. I think the best way would be to have it by committee,” he exclaimed.
What does the history have to say about The Walking Dead Season 9?
Looking at the past this seems to be one of the best ways to make the community working. We have clear instances from the past, when Rick was leading there were many others dissatisfied by him like Daryl, Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan).
They were really mad at Rick for not killing Neegan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) after the war ended. They all were of the opinion that the kind of things he has done, he should have been assassinated, but Rick was of the opinion that it could be really dangerous.
Rick preferred locking him in a room and Negan Got him free and now nothing can be predicted as to what can be the next thing. Now we have also heard that Negan could be imitating the character and kill Alpha, I order to redeem everything.
