It’s been over 8 years when the last book in A Song of Ice and Fire series was released, and fans have been waiting for The Winds of Winter ever since. George RR Martin has already announced that the sixth book is being written, so we are hopeful that with the end of the show, it will be released soon.

Martin more focused on writing
Martin said that he is now much more focused on writing The Winds of Winter. He revealed that he was disappointed that he could not finish the book before the show, as he had quite a head start when the show began in 2011.
He has been distracted with events and conferences, along with working on the 5 Game of Thrones prequels that are supposedly on the floor.
The Winds of Winter: A difficult book to write
He was recently asked about what are the reasons for the delay in the release of The Winds of Winter, and he said that this is a complex book because he wants to cover several angles. He wants every character’s story to be told in a unique manner, but it is difficult to do so in just one book.
Several fans then suggested that he should break up the book into two volumes, but Martin said that he is “resisting that notion”.
Other theories suggest that Martin may probably want to finalize the drafts of the final book before releasing the penultimate one so that he doesn’t have to go back and make any changes.
For now, we can only speculate about a release date of The Winds of Winter, since there has been no official announcement.
