Timothy Hawking was born in St Albans, Hertfordshire, the United Kingdom, to parents Jane Hawking and Jonathan Hellyer Jones. Despite this, he was primarily raised by his well-known parent, the late Stephen Hawking, who was both an author and a physicist.
In 1964, Jane and Stephen Hawking, Tim’s parents, got engaged and tied the knot on July 14, 1965. They were introduced by a friend from college at a party in the early 1960s before Stephen was diagnosed with motor neuron disease.
In 1990, his parents separated and their divorce was officially finalized in 1995. During the same year, Stephen Hawking married a nurse named Elaine Mason, but they later divorced in 2006. Meanwhile, his mother Jane remarried musician Jonathan Hellyer Jones in 1997.
