Born on September 19, 1998, in Lubbock, Texas, Trae went to Norman North High School in Oklahoma. In his final year, he maintained an incredible average of 42 points per game with a 49% shooting success rate.

He received a unanimous vote to be part of the NBA All-Rookie First Team. In his second season, his average score was almost 30 points per game and he was chosen to participate in his maiden NBA All-Star game.
