A beloved American actor, Treat Williams recently passed away at the age of 71 due to an unfortunate motorcycle accident on June 12, 2023. The veteran Hollywood actor became popular with the hit 1979 film ‘Hair’ and is widely known for his role in the Warner Bros. series ‘Everwood’. His role in ‘Hair’ had won him his first Golden Globe nomination as a New Star of the Year.
Treat Williams Died In A Motorcycle Accident
The sad news of Williams’ death was confirmed by his agent, Barry McPherson, who has worked with him for 15 years. Barry confirmed the news to People magazine on Monday evening recalling the actor’s glorious career.
“He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off,”
“I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.”
“He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of the Hollywood since the late 1970s. He was really proud of his performance this year. He’s been so happy with the work that I got him. He’s had a balanced career.”
The fire Chief of Dorset, Jacob Gribble, stated that the crash happened on Monday evening around 5 PM on Route 30 in Dorset, Vermont. William’s motorcycle crashed into a car while taking a turn. Upon investigation, it was revealed that it was an unfortunate accident as the car driver did not see the motorcycle coming while making the turn. According to Chief Gribble, only Treat Williams suffered injuries and there were no other casualties.
A LifeNet helicopter was sent to airlift Treat Williams to a hospital in New York for treatment. After the confirmation from the hospital, the Vermont Police released an official statement confirming the news of Williams’ death and other details regarding the crash. The police also mentioned that the investigation is in its early stages and they will continue assessing the accident scene.
Hollywood Mourns Treat Williams’ Death
Williams was best known for his work in Everwood as Dr Andy Brown. The show had a vast cast ensemble which ran for four seasons from 2002 to 2006. He was also nominated for a SAG Award for outstanding performance by a male actor in drama series for his role as Dr Andy. his After the news of Williams’ passing away, many of his co-stars from the show paid tribute to the late actor recounting their memories.
Actress Emily VanCamp, who played Amy Abbott shared an Instagram post expressing her sorrow.
