The Trump administration is planning for hours-long downtimes for the maintenance on healthcare.gov during the period of ObamaCare sign-ups.
The administration drew criticism for a similar move last year. Many Advocates have expressed their disappointment that downtime would make it difficult for the people to sign up for coverage. However, the administration denies this criticism by saying that during the slowest periods on the site, the maintenance downtime happens and it is designed in such a manner.
The spokesperson added that the regularly scheduled maintenance would continue to be planned, including Sunday mornings, according to the lowest-traffic time periods
CMS said under the Obama administration, on Sunday mornings at the end of 2016 there were 53.5 hours of maintenance downtime.
The coming sign-up period, for 2019 coverage, runs from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15.
Any pronouncement from the Trump administration’s over the ObamaCare sign-ups draws immediate attention. Democrats have accused the trump’s administration of “sabotaging” the law.
