Early Years
During his time in high school, Conklin was a notable athlete at L’Anse Creuse North High School. He excelled in both football as a wide receiver and basketball as a combo guard.
In his third year, he led his basketball team to the Class A Final Four, where he scored 22 points in their 59-46 defeat against eventual state champions, Saginaw High.
Following his high school graduation, Conklin received a full basketball scholarship to Northwood University. He completed one semester and participated in seven games, with an average of 2.6 rebounds, 1.9 points, and 1.4 assists per game.
However, in the middle of his first year, he decided to transfer to Central Michigan University and joined the football team as a walk-on.

After his rookie year, Conklin was placed on the Jets’ depth chart. He stepped in for injured Irv Smith Jr., catching two passes for 13 yards in Sunday’s 11-6 loss to the Dolphins.
During the 2017 NFL Combine, Conklin’s performance was impressive as he placed second among all tight ends in the vertical jump, fourth in the broad jump, and fifth in the three-cone exercise. However, he came in ninth place in the 40-yard run.
In the 2018 NFL Draft, Conklin was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round as the 157th overall pick. During his NFL debut in the Vikings’ first game of the season against their rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, he only managed to make one reception for six yards.
