Even if you are from a different planet, chances are pretty slim you haven’t heard of the legendary Area 51. The U.S. Air Force base is the “base” of many conspiracy theories when it comes to aliens, experimental aircraft and advanced technology.
What and where is Area 51 anyways?
Area 51 is a remote part of the Edwards Air Base, which lies within the Nevada Training and Test Range. Although the nature of operation still remains a secret to this day, some conspiracy theorists suggest that the base is home to extraterrestrials.
It is located in the middle of the desert in Lincoln County, Nevada. The U.S. government acknowledged the existence of the super-secret base in recent years. In the last 50 years, there have been numerous failed attempts of people trying to break in the super-secret U.S. Air Force base.
Why are people suddenly trying to raid Area 51?
The plan to raid Area 51 gained traction when someone on Facebook created an event named “Storm Area 51, They can’t stop all of us.” The event went viral on the internet with over 800k RSVPs and over 755k people saying they are interested in the event.
People have even come up with plans on how to raid the active military base.
The event description reads
We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we [Naruto] run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens.
The United States Air Force is ready for appropriate response
While the event clearly started off as a joke, the enormous response to the event has the U.S. Air Force on its feet.
[Area 51] is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces. The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets. – Laura McAndrews, U.S. Air Force spokesperson.
