27-0. This is the biggest undefeated streak in MMA history, held by Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, come Saturday night, Khabib’s undefeated run might just be coming to an end. Khabib vs Poirier is his first fight back in the Octagon in almost a year and this time, he faces an opponent who has pretty much the same fighting skill as his own.
Will Dustin Poirier be the one who ends this streak? Or will Khabib take it to 28-0 by the time the fight ends? Here’s a closer look:

Khabib vs Poirier – The Story So Far
Khabib Nurmagomedov has been unstoppable. Dustin Poirier has been a rising force. Over his last four matches, Poirier defeated guys like Alvarez, Holloway, Pettis and Gaethje. Khabib too has been in a number of high-profile fights, including his last one with Conor McGregor, where he made the Irishman tap out.
Following the ban that Khabib had to serve after the post-UFC 229 altercations, Poirier was crowned the new interim lightweight champion. This fight between the two is to unify the lightweight championship.
Khabib Nurmagomedov said “only Tony Ferguson” would deserve the title shot next if he beats Dustin Poirier next week at UFC 242.

Is Khabib Going to Lose at UFC 242?
While the odds currently support Khabib Nurmagomedov winning the fight, betting odds tend to go very wrong when it comes to actual fights – remember how McGregor was heavily favored over Khabib? Khabib vs Poirier is indeed the biggest fight of this year – and it will be a real shock if Poirier manages to win this one!
