The Dagestani rocked the Irishman with a huge overhand right in the second round. Conor McGregor also took a couple of punishing strikes. Generally, medical suspensions are given out by the UFC to champions if their condition worsens due to a match considering the fact that they would not able to take part in the matches either way. Thankfully, the physical damage was not something that could not be recovered from easily for the defeated Irishman. But, there are chances of him landing with a couple of other longer suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission due to the ugly brawl and mauling that lead to the finish.

During the McGregor-Nurmagomedov fight, the Russian falls between the cheering audiences after the wrestling man-oeuvre. He, however did have the upper hand and launched himself on the stage to strike the former’s partner Dillon Danis, after an inappropriate gesticulation. Then, Nurmagomedov’s cousin and partner entered the cage and punched McGregor encouraging a couple of others to participate in the attack.
It was Khabib Nurmagomedov that provoked Conor McGregor, but the latter’s strike on the former’s partner worsened the situation. But, there are chances of his challenger to be slapped with much more serious suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, who after inspecting the video footage have already suspended his £1.2 million purse. However, McGregor was permitted to claim his £2.3 million.
Both the commissions can take further actions on both the fighters. McGregor was taken out of the stadium while the Russian finished his match. In the press conference followed by the match, when asked about the visa privileges of Khabib, UFC President Dana White said they would just retain his purse and a percentage of his winnings. He also added that he keeps his title and maybe suspended for four to six months.
