Having noisy neighbors is never a good thing.
Cilla Carden knows everything there is to know about noisy neighbors because hers have become a problem. In fact, they were getting so annoying that she took them to Australia’s highest court.
The massage therapist from Perth, Australia, went to court against her neighbors because they always played basketball and used their barbecue, which she said kept her from enjoying her backyard.
It’s been devastating, it’s been turmoil, it’s been unrest, I haven’t been able to sleep
Carden.
Carden, who is a vegan, had been complaining for months that she can’t stand the smell of her neighbor’s grilling and smoking. She has also said something about how the kids play basketball.
They’ve put it there so I smell fish, all I can smell is fish. I can’t enjoy my backyard, I can’t go out there.
It got so bad that she went to court against her neighbors. When her claims were turned down, she tried to take the case to the Supreme Court, but that was also turned down.
It’s deliberate, that’s what I told the courts, it’s deliberate,
Carden said.
But her neighbor thinks that they have solved the problem. Reports say that sources went to the defendant’s backyard and saw that the grill had been taken away, and the kids were told not to play basketball anymore.
After the unusual court case made headlines, a Facebook event was set up for a community barbecue to show Carden that she couldn’t “destroy a good old Aussie tradition.”
But when 24,000 people showed up, the police gave a warning, and Carden’s lawyer said he would take legal action. The cookout was called off.
Many people think she doesn’t like it when other people eat meat because of how she acts and what she says, but Carden’s lawyer says she “has no problem with people eating meat or having barbecues.”
Do you think it was a good idea for Cilla Carden to sue her neighbors?
