A new video of Brittney Griner’s reaction when she finds out she’s going to fly to the U.S. is getting a lot of attention on the internet because fans are glad she can finally leave Russia.
In a “prisoner swap” between the US and Russia, the basketball star from the US was freed from jail on December 8.
President Joe Biden gave his approval to the swap, which got the 32-year-old woman out of jail. She had been arrested in February for having cannabis oil at an airport in Moscow. When she was arrested, Griner was on her way back to Russia to finish her season there.
In exchange for her freedom, the United States released Viktor Bout, a well-known arms dealer who had been held captive for 12 years.
In the new video, Griner is asked how she feels by a Russian interviewer who uses an app to translate.
Happy,
Griner says.
Do you know where are you heading to?
the interviewer asked her.
No, I don’t know.
said Griner.
You’re flying back home,
the interviewer responded.
To the U.S.?
asked Griner.
To the U.S.,
said the interviewer while Griner smiled.
Everything will be fine.

She looks like she does not believe them. My heart breaks for her. So glad she is coming home.
This is making me so sad. She look like she really been thru so much,
said another user.
Others were saying that the 32-year-old woman looks very different from how she did before.
It breaks my heart they cut off her locs. Of course it’s what happens when you’re incarcerated but the way it’s cut for how long she was in shows they were forceful and cruel with it,
another user commented while a user expressed anger using an angry emoji and saying,
Did they make Britney cut the locs off?
According to a source, President Joe Biden made it official that Griner was being let out of the White House.
Moments ago, standing together with her wife Cherelle in the Oval Office, I spoke with Brittney Griner,
said Biden.
She’s safe, she’s on a plane, she’s on her way home after months of being unjustly detained in Russia, held under intolerable circumstances. Brittney will soon be back in the arms of her loved ones, and she should have been there all along.
