As a ranch owner himself, many fans believe that most of the ranch-based scenes are shot in Kevin Costner’s Dunbar ranch situated in Colorado. In 2000, Costner purchased 160 acres of unspoiled beauty in Aspen, Colorado, and transformed it into a breathtakingly beautiful paradise.
According to online property listings, the Dunbar Ranch, named after Costner’s character in Dances With Wolves, includes a luxurious main residence, a lake house, a river house, a baseball field akin to the one in the movie Fields of Dreams, a sledding hill, and a personal ice rink.
However, amidst the divorce battle with his wife Chris Baumgartner, the Yellowstone star decided to list his Dunbar ranch property for rent. In January, Dunbar Ranch, which boasts 12 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms spread over 6,000 square feet, was put up for rent at a staggering rate of $36,000 per night.
This 160-acre Aspen estate, just a few minutes away from downtown, has been declared the “ultimate luxury retreat”. This property has 24/7 caretakers, a baseball diamond, a sledding area, three Jacuzzis, and can sleep up to 27 guests in comfort.
Yellowstone Shooting Locations
For the first four seasons of Yellowstone, the majority of production took place in Utah, where three sound stages and over twenty locations were utilized. However, since the fourth season, the majority of scenes have been shot in Montana.
The Duttons and their ever-increasing number of enemies have made their home right between two mountain ranges in the Bitterroot Valley. Ten miles outside of Billings, Montana is the Broken Rock Indian Reservation, which is not a set that is used to represent other places for the Paramount Network. Spanning a huge 2.2 million acres, the Crow Indian Reservation is the biggest reservation in the entire state.
In an interview with Variety, AJ Not Afraid, the chairman of the Crow Nation Tribe, remarked that the series offers a more truthful and precise depiction of the current American Indian than what they have seen in the past.
