Wendy Williams Biography
Wendy Joan Williams was born on July 18, 1964, in Asbury Park, New Jersey, USA. She was brought into the family by her parents, Shirley and Thomas Dwayne Williams, and was the second of three children. Her mother was a teacher who specialized in special education, while her father held the position of the school principal.
Wendy’s father made history in 1969 as the first black school administrator in Red Bank, New Jersey. Despite graduating from Ocean Township High School, Wendy did not excel academically.
Education
Williams enrolled at Northeastern University in Boston to pursue a career as a television anchor. However, she decided to switch her focus from television communications to radio within just a few weeks, as she believed it would provide her with more opportunities for career advancement. This choice was met with disapproval from her parents.
Despite facing opposition from her parents, she persevered and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in communication, with a minor in journalism.
During her time at university, she served as a disc jockey for WRBB, the college radio station. She even had the opportunity to interview famous rapper LL Cool J, making her the first-ever college radio host to do so.
Television Career
After Wendy graduated from Northeastern University, she started her career just two weeks later. In 1992, Wendy Williams made her television debut on the series ‘Martin’. In 2007, she became the host of the morning show ‘Good Day New York’, and the next year, she started hosting her talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, which premiered in four cities.
Following a triumphant run, Fox decided to air the show nationwide. Furthermore, in 2010, BET began showcasing the show globally in approximately 54 nations. In 2011, Williams made subsequent appearances on the soap opera ‘One Life to Live’ and Lifetime Network’s ‘Drop Dead Diva.’ Additionally, she participated as a contestant on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ during that same year.

Wendy Williams Hunter, a renowned host of daytime talk shows in the US, was informed by her medical team last year that she had been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The team said it was sharing the news “to correct inaccurate and hurtful rumours about her health”.
At the age of 59, Ms. Williams had been the long-time host of the widely-watched Wendy Williams Show for more than ten years. However, in 2022, due to her ongoing health issues, the show came to an end.
