The first trailer for Wes Anderson’s upcoming film, Asteroid City, has been published by Focus Features, and this movie looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun! Although I enjoy Anderson’s movies, this one seems like it might be one of his best.
The tale takes place in 1955 in a fictional American desert town. The narrative describes how “world-changing events spectacularly disrupt the schedule of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition).”
The arrival of an alien is that seismic occurrence. I really like how Anderson tells stories and makes movies, and he always has a fantastic group! This one includes Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, and Tom Hanks, with Sophia Lillis, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Fisher Stevens, Rita Wilson, Jarvis Cocker, and Jeff Goldblum. Bill Murray’s absence surprises me!
On June 17, 2023, Asteroid City will be screened in theatres. The video is fun!
