It has been nearly a year since the last episode of season 2 of Westworld was released, but it certainly feels longer than that. Ever since that chilling finale, fans have been waiting anxiously for the next season. Although we hoped that we will see less wait time between season 2 and 3, it is now official that the next installment will not be released until 2020.

The news is not surprising at all since fans were already expecting that premiere of the next season will take some time. The writers are taking more time to finalize the details of the third installment.
Reason for delay in Westworld season 3
There were rumours adrift that Westworld has already started filming the next season in March, but all these reports were quashed by CBR when they stated that the production has been postponed because of the California wildfires that spread to the sets of the show in November last year.
New flagship show?
Certain reports have also stated that Westworld could replace Game of Thrones as a flagship show for HBO next year. The premiere is speculated to release close to another highly awaited HBO show, The Long Night, a prequel to Game of Thrones.
Westworld season 3 is set to return with the same cast next year, which includes Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris, and Tessa Thompson.
A fixed release date for the show is expected to be announced once production begins.
