Both Billions and Mr Robot are highly beloved TV shows that take viewers through a world of suspense and thrill. However, both shows have very different storylines and concepts. Nevertheless, there’s one similarity pointed out by a fan which is quite intriguing. In both these shows, there were artworks and/or pictures of people whose faces were covered with coloured stickers. Is that a coincidence?
Brief Summary of Mr Robot
In the ever-evolving landscape of television, few shows have managed to captivate audiences quite like Mr Robot. This modern-day masterpiece, created by Sam Esmail, delves deep into the intricate world of hacking, identity, and mental health.
The show follows the enigmatic protagonist, Elliot Alderson, a brilliant but tormented cybersecurity expert brilliantly portrayed by Rami Malek. Elliot becomes entangled in a covert hacking group led by the mysterious Mr Robot, played by the remarkable Christian Slater. Together, they embark on a quest to challenge the omnipresent grip of powerful corporations and unmask the unsettling truths hidden beneath the veneer of modern life.
Brief Summary of Billions
This gripping show, created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin, immerses viewers into the cutthroat world of high finance and the battles that unfold between titans of industry.
At the heart of Billions is the riveting clash between two formidable figures: Bobby Axelrod, a shrewd and unapologetically ambitious hedge fund manager portrayed by Damian Lewis, and Chuck Rhoades, a relentless and morally-driven U.S. Attorney played by the commanding Paul Giamatti. Their rivalry forms the core of the narrative, a battle of wits and wills that spans legal battles, financial strategies, and personal vendettas.
Why Do The Photos/Artworks Have Stickers On The Faces?
In eps2.9_pyth0n-pt1.p7z of Mr Robot, we see Angela escorted by two of her captors to a residence where she is interviewed by Mr White Rose. In the room that she’s taken to, we see some pictures on the wall which seem to have photos of people but the faces have been covered by coloured stickers.
Similarly, in Season 3 Episode 10 of Billions, we see the conference room of Axe Capitol with what seems to be an artwork. What’s strange about the artwork is that the faces are again covered with stickers.
This uncanny similarity between the two shows has left many fans puzzled.
It was revealed by a fan that the artwork showcased in Billions is by a famous artist called John Baldessari from 1988. It is called Astronauts and Businessmen. The artist described it as-
“I just had these price stickers I was using for something else, in some graphic way and I put them on all the faces and I just felt like it leveled the playing field.”
However, there is no explanation behind the photos we see in Mr Robot. It is quite possible that this creative decision was nothing but a coincidence.
