Netflix’s Tribute to Hollywood’s Powerhouse: “Sly”
When it comes to the Hollywood giants, few can stand tall alongside Sylvester Stallone. From writing and starring in the timeless “Rocky” to embodying the embodiment of American grit in “Rambo”, Stallone’s journey has been nothing short of iconic. Netflix is soon to premiere an introspective documentary on this superstar, rightfully titled “Sly.”
Stallone’s not alone in this endeavor. Joining him to reflect on his illustrious career are some prominent figures, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Quentin Tarantino. Beyond just his cinema journey, the documentary offers a peek into the personal life of Stallone, drawing parallels between the actor’s real-life struggles and the iconic characters he portrayed on screen.

A Personal Heartbreak: Sage Stallone’s Tragic Passing
One of the poignant moments in the documentary, and perhaps in Stallone’s life, is the passing of his oldest child, Sage Stallone.
Born to Sylvester Stallone and his first wife, Sasha Czack, Sage was the eldest of Stallone’s brood. He was a sibling to Seargeoh “Seth” Stallone and half-brother to Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet Stallone from Sly’s current marriage with Jennifer Flavin.
Before his foray into cinema, Sage’s childhood had a touch of showbiz. He once made an appearance on “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling,” a show promoted by his vibrant grandmother, Jackie Stallone.
Sage’s film journey commenced alongside his father in the fifth installment of the “Rocky” franchise, “Rocky V,” playing the role of Robert Balboa Jr. This father-son duo was also seen together in “Daylight.” Sage’s filmography also includes two critically acclaimed films by Vincent Gallo: “Promises Written in Water” and “The Agent,” both showcased at the Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival in 2010.
Tragedy struck the Stallone family on 13th July 2012 when Sage was found dead at his Los Angeles residence. As per reports from the LA Coroner and Toxicology Department, the cause of death was determined to be coronary artery disease caused by atherosclerosis. Surprisingly, no illegal substances were found in his system, except for a standard over-the-counter pain medication. At that heart-wrenching moment, Sage was engaged to be married. He was laid to rest after a funeral service on 21st July at St Martin of Tours Catholic Church, with his final resting place being the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.
