Famously known as ‘Jared from Subway, Jared Fogle became popular recognition after losing 245 pounds by consuming meals from Subway. Soon after, Fogle was appointed as Subway’s spokesperson and was often seen in commercials by the food chain company for his impressive weight loss journey. However, his fame was short-lived as the spokesperson was arrested in 2015.

The latest true-crime docuseries Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster by Investigation Discovery reveals all there is to know about Fogle’s filthy secret. The three-part docuseries delves into the former Subway spokesperson’s life and how he got arrested for dealing in children’s pornography and its distribution. Fogle became a pop culture icon after he became popular for his weight loss which he achieved by exercising and a diet that included Subway sandwiches.
In the series, it is revealed how Fogle was involved in distributing child pornography. Fogle was arrested in 2015 following an FBI investigation. He pled guilty to possessing child pornography and travelling across state lines to indulge in commercial sex with a minor. Jared Fogle was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison situated in Englewood, Colorado.
Where is Jared Fogle Now?
Currently, Fogle is serving jail time at the Federal Correctional Insitute in Colorado. He has appealed his sentencing twice which has been denied. Fogle’s sentencing will not allow him to be eligible for parole until he’s served 13 years in prison. He will be registered as a sex offender. It is evident that Fogle is paying the price for his crimes as there were reports that he was assaulted by an inmate which left him bruised and injured.
In 2021, Fogle reportedly wrote a handwritten letter which was disclosed by the New York Post. He wrote-
“I really royally screwed up to wind up where I am. I was selfish and entitled.”
“I try to avoid too much junk food. I snack on granola bars and protein bars. I feel really good physically and mentally.”
“I very much look forward to re-starting my life and enjoying every moment with my family who have stood by and supported me. I’m so lucky to have them.”
Even if Fogle is really remorseful about what he’s done, he will not see life outside the facility until 2029. His docuseries is streaming on Discovery+.
