On August 7, 2023, Rachel Morin, a 37-year-old mother of five, was savagely killed while she was running along the MA & PA Heritage Trail in Bel Air, Maryland. She was an avid fitness enthusiast, a fervent Christian, and a caring daughter and sister.
Who was Rachel Morin?
Rachel was born in Dover, New Hampshire, on May 20, 1986, to mother Patty Morin and her father. She was raised in a family with four other siblings – Josiah, Rebekah, John, and Nathan. After graduating from college with a degree in business administration, she took up a post as a manager at a nearby gym.
Rachel was an avid runner and health enthusiast who relished her time in the fresh air. She usually jogged on the MA & PA Heritage Trail near her home in Bel-Air, MD.
She was a devout Christian who went to church regularly and offered her services to various philanthropic efforts. She held her family and buddies close and was always eager to lend a hand to those who required it.
Personal Life
Rachel Morin was in a relationship with Richard Tobin, an alleged neo-Nazi belonging to The Base. In early 2023, Tobin and Rachel connected online, and eventually, he decided to move in with Rachel and her children in Bel Air.
Tobin informed the FBI that in September 2019, he had organized the destruction of synagogues in Michigan and Wisconsin as part of The Base’s “Operation Kristallnacht”.
He acknowledged the fact that he had had some disturbing thoughts of murdering individuals of other ethnicities with a machete or a vehicle and indicated that he was eager to confront minorities and provoke a racial conflict.
In November 2020, Tobin pleaded guilty to a count of conspiring to deny the rights of others and was given a sentence of one year in prison in November 2021.
Furthermore, he is being accused of committing domestic terrorism, hate crimes, and weapons violations related to the murder of Rachel Morin and other schemes of The Base.
Rachel Morin Murder
On August 7, 2023, Rachel Morin was brutally attacked and killed while out jogging on the MA & PA Heritage Trail in Bel Air, Maryland. Two men wearing masks stabbed her several times before leaving her corpse in a drain.
The two people later discovered to be Luke Lane and Jacob Kaderli – who were both from The Base – had traveled from Georgia to Maryland in order to commit the murder.
On August 9, 2023, Lane and Kaderli were apprehended by the FBI after their homes were raided, revealing incriminating evidence that tied them to the homicide.
Additionally, they were charged with plotting the murder of a duo involved in the Bartow County, Georgia faction of Antifa. Currently, they are in legal limbo in a federal court.
The FBI conducted a large-scale operation throughout the US and Canada that resulted in the arrest of numerous members of The Base, a neo-Nazi organization.
The Bureau declared that The Base had been accumulating arms, explosives, and battle equipment, and had plans to incite a violent revolt.
The FBI uncovered that Rachel Morin’s partner Richard Tobin was the chief perpetrator of the homicide and had instructed Lane and Kaderli to execute her.
Tobin is being charged with domestic terrorism, hatred-motivated crimes, and weapons violations due to the FBI’s report that he wanted to use Rachel’s death as a springboard to start a racial conflict. His involvement in The Base’s other plans has led to these additional charges.
Rebekah Morin has created a GoFundMe page for her sister Rachel Morin’s family to accumulate funds for Rachel’s memorial service, her children’s educational expenses, and any other needs. Rachel did not have life insurance coverage, and her passing was not an accident, according to Rebekah.
