Brittany Hightower was a 22-year-old woman from Texas with sickle cell anaemia and was the founder of the non-profit organization “Slay the Sickle Cycle.” Her posts were mostly about “stop mental abuse,” and because she was a tiktoker, she was well-known in her neighbourhood. She participated in their forums and frequently took part in their live streams on mental health issues as the founder of Sickle Cell. In addition, she maintains the page @slay.the.sickle.cycle. Regretfully, the latter died on January 1, 2023, just a few days following the death of her mother.
What Happened To Brittany Hightower?
On December 24, 2022, she was brought to Houston’s John Peter Smith Hospital with serious stomach issues; however, she was not given treatment and was even threatened with arrest by the police.
Police officers were heard claiming that hospital staff “did not want her there” and declined to treat her in a video that her family captured. After Brittany passed away on January 1, 2023, her family claims she was mistreated and neglected by the hospital and police due to racial prejudice and that prompt medical attention could have prevented her death.
Despite Brittany Hightower’s obvious illness, she was told to leave the emergency room by the police, who threatened to arrest her. Brittany pleaded with the police to let her stay so she could report being mistreated. She said she was ill and that if she left the hospital, she would fear for her life.
There have been reports that the hospital declined to treat Brittany because of an earlier conflict with a registered nurse. It was said that the nurse was resentful of Brittany and didn’t think she was actually ill.
Brittany endured verbal abuse from hospital staff and police despite her deteriorating health. Her family feels that she was treated unfairly because of racial prejudice and discrimination.
Following her passing, Brittany’s family is suing the hospital to hold them accountable for what happened. The hospital will probably face legal repercussions for its part in Brittany’s death, which was caused by medical malpractice.

Presumably, the deceased woman lost her mother four weeks ago. She even wrote a post in memory of her mother, which is thought to have been her final one.
