Charlie was born in Sarasota, Florida, USA, on February 4, 1998. Bob and Danee Barnett adopted both Charlie and his sister. Charlie’s adoptive mother is of Swedish descent and hails from Utah, while his adoptive father is a boat builder from Minnesota.
Until the age of seven, he grew up on a sailboat near Longboat Key in Florida. It was at the age of six when he first encountered theatre and began participating in numerous operas and musicals with the Sarasota Youth Opera.
