Who is Gus Walz?
In 2006, Tim and Gwen Walz welcomed their son Gus Walz. Tim Walz, who currently serves as the governor of Minnesota, was recently chosen as Kamala Harris’ running mate for the vice presidential position. Additionally, Gus has an older sister named Hope.
Gus Walz’s parent first met when they were both working as teachers in western Nebraska, close to Walz’s place of origin. Following their meeting, they organized an annual summer excursion to China for their pupils and continued this tradition until 2003, according to Gwen’s official biography.
In 1994, they finally got married and had their children in 2001 and 2006. From time to time, Walz posts pictures and praises his kids on his social media, and has been featured in several popular videos with Hope.
In 2023, Governor Tim Walz shared on Instagram that his son had been granted a driver’s license, expressing his pride with the caption,
“My son Gus just passed his (what do you call it? A drivers license exam?). Proud dad moment.”
Personal Struggles

“When our youngest Gus was growing up, it became increasingly clear that he was different from his classmates. Gus preferred video games and spending more time by himself.”
They added,
“When he was becoming a teenager, we learned that Gus has a nonverbal learning disorder in addition to an anxiety disorder and ADHD, conditions that millions of Americans also have.”
The Mayo Clinic reports that children with nonverbal learning disorders may demonstrate a strong ability to memorize words and possess solid fundamental language skills. However, they may struggle with comprehending abstract ideas, interpreting facial expressions, and coordinating their physical movements.
At the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Tim was chosen as Kamala Harris‘ running mate for the 2024 election on behalf of his party. This caused a wave of emotions for the entire Walz family.

From the podium, Tim said:
“Hope, Gus and Gwen you are my entire world, and I love you.” His kids and wife eventually joined him on stage.”
