About Gwen Jones’ Role In The Netflix Series
Wednesday’s fifth episode features a flashback to the 1990s, when the majority of the students were having a great time on prom night. Garrett Gates (Lewis Hayes), a student at Nevermore Academy, developed an obsession with Morticia (Gwen Jones) months before the year’s biggest event and wouldn’t leave her alone.
Then, in a fit of jealousy, he attempted to harm Gomez (Lucius Hoyos), which resulted in a swordfight between them on the roof. Although it has been believed that Garrett fell after Gomez stabbed him, it is eventually discovered that Morticia killed Garrett because she was afraid for both her and Gomez’s lives.
The pair does an excellent job of depicting the youthful passion and undying love that teenage Morticia and Gomez had for one another, which still shows in the adult portrayals by Zeta-Jones and Guzmán.
Given that Wednesday season 1 has already revealed a number of other characters, including Larissa Weems and Noble Walker, who may appear in a spinoff starring Morticia and Gomez, the casting of Gwen Jones and Lucius Hoyos is already ideal for a longer look at the young characters.
