In 2018, Stephens became Mulatto and released a mixtape. Her 2019 single “Bitch from da Souf” reached number 95 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went Gold. Latto dropped her second EP in June, then her third in December. She also had a hit with a remix of “Bitch from da Souf” featuring Trina and Saweetie.
After “Bitch from da Souf” became a hit, Latto signed with RCA Records in March 2020. In the following months, she released the promotional singles “No Hook” and “He Say She Say.” In July, Latto dropped her hit single “Muwop” featuring Gucci Mane.
