Lusia Strus is an American author, actor, and supporter of Neo-Futurists on stage and screen. She is well-known for portraying a variety of personalities and occasionally using strange accents in her appearances, including Alexa, Adam Sandler‘s secretary in the television series 50 First Dates. Who Is Lusia Strus?
Lusia Strus was born on December 13, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois, U.S to Mr. Nicholas Strus and Mrs. Eugenia who are both Ukrainians. Her father was born in Ukraine on March 5, 1919, but sadly passed away at the age of 60 when Lusia was still a young child. He survived the war, the Ukrainian Holodomor, being imprisoned by the Germans, and losing his family, which included his brother Andriy. Lusia’s father also battled cancer, which caused him to lose so much weight that he needed to use ropes to raise himself.
Lusia Strus routinely went to Ukrainian school on the weekends. She experienced her first significant triumphs in the performing arts during her high school years. She also went to Illinois State University.
Lusia Strus’ Career
Her first play was performed many years ago at St. Nicholas Ukrainian School while she was only a little elementary student. For the school play, Lusia took on the part of Snowflake. Lusia Strus began her professional career in the entertainment sector in 1993 when she became a member of Greg Allen’s Neo-Futurists ensemble. When she was still in the group, she started writing solo ensemble pieces.
Years later, she started landing parts in plays for Chicago theatres, including Victory Gardens, Steppenwolf, Goodman, and Curious Theatre Company. In addition, Lusia has worked for Yoplait, the Chicago Jazz Festival, and WBEZ, a non-commercial educational radio station. She has been working in theatre for almost 20 years, and she didn’t start doing screen acting until much later.
Lusia Strus also played Janine in Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, and played Rachel in Jason Lew’s and Gus Van Sant’s Restless. She had a recurring role in Wayward Pines (2015), and since 2016 has played Letty’s mother Estelle on Good Behavior.

Although there isn’t much information available online, a thorough examination of Lusia’s Instagram page revealed some information. It appears that sometime in August of 2003, she got married in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral.
On August 8, 2019, the theatre actor shared on her wall that sixteen years prior, she attended a rehearsal dinner for a wedding in which she was the bride. She went on to talk about how the marriage ended in a “sludgy divorce” and how she was able to keep a black and white photo from that day. The post made no mention of who she married. When her photo in her wedding gown was taken, though, she appeared to be a happy bride.
Additionally, she never shared any photos of the children from the union, suggesting that none were born. She comes closest to having a “baby” when she gets to show off Mr. Ruffles, who passed away on July 3, 2019, and Ernie, her dogs.
