Rikki Lynn Laughlin is a 25-year-old special education teacher from Missouri who has been accused of establishing an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student.
The teacher is an active user of social media, often sharing photos of herself with her family and engaging in activities such as horseback riding, posing with rifles, and displaying Trump flags.
According to reports, the student alleged that Laughlin had sent him explicit photographs and requested inappropriate images from him. She is facing several allegations, including possessing child pornography, influencing a witness, and manipulating physical evidence.
The teacher who works with students with special needs has been accused of meeting with a student at her home to begin a romantic relationship while her spouse was away. Laughlin is currently on a break while an investigation is being conducted.

Rikki Lynn Laughlin has been accused of sending her explicit photos to a 16-year-old boy. The police believe that the events may have taken place sometime between September 8 and October 19.
She faces a series of charges including- possession of child porn, tampering with a witness, tampering with physical evidence, attempted statutory rape in the second degree, promoting obscenity in the first degree, and furnishing pornographic materials to a minor.
According to the accusations, Laughlin was the one using persuasion, as confirmed by the Maries County Sheriff’s Office. The student’s behavior, on the other hand, consisted of repeatedly making excuses to avoid the situation.
The officials suspected that the teacher had used Snapchat to communicate with the 16-year-old student at the start of the academic year. They also alleged that Laughlin ultimately kissed the student in a classroom.
After a police investigation, it was discovered that the teacher had sent the student explicit videos of herself using adult toys. Laughlin persistently pressured the student to send her nude photos until he finally gave in.
Later, Laughlin instructed him to remove the material she had sent, due to speculation from others. The boy complied and removed most of the content, but retained some and presented it to the authorities.
Following a conversation with the supposed victim, authorities interviewed the special education teacher, who also provided a statement.
“I was not aware he was a minor until yesterday.”
After further inquiry, Rikki Lynn Laughlin readily shared her side of the story and confirmed the relationship.
According to her statement, the student was the one who came to her.
Law enforcement officials also stated that she was willing to surrender her phone for a search without any coercion. Upon inspecting the device, authorities discovered videos that aligned with the alleged victim’s account.
Rikki Lynn Laughlin was employed as a special education teacher at St. James R-1 High School. The St. James R-1 School District Superintendent Tim Webster released a public statement to KSDK stating,
“The District takes these matters seriously and reported allegations to appropriate outside agencies, including law enforcement. We have been actively cooperating with these agencies since the initial report.”
Rikki Lynn Laughlin’s bond appearance hearing has been set for November 14, 2023, as the investigation into the case continues. Should she be proven guilty, this may mark the end of her teaching career.
In addition, she has been charged with altering physical evidence and one misdemeanor charge of providing pornographic materials to a minor, which could result in a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail. Laughlin’s bail has been established at a little over £80,000.
