Siobhan Fallon Hogan is a well-known American actress and comedian. She is recognized for her roles in popular movies like Men in Black, Forrest Gump, The Negotiator, Holes, Daddy Day Care, Going in Style, and The House That Jack Built.
Early Life & Education
Siobhan Fallon was born to Jane and William J. Fallon, a lawyer, on May 13, 1961, in Syracuse, New York, USA. She was brought up as a Catholic and has Irish ancestry. Hogan spent her childhood in Cazenovia, New York, and completed her high school education at Cazenovia High School in 1979.
After completing her studies at Le Moyne College in 1983, she went on to obtain her Master in Fine Arts from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. just two years later.
Siobhan Fallon Hogan’s Career
In 1990, Siobhan made her first appearance on television in an episode of The Golden Girls. She starred in 20 Saturday Night Live episodes between 1991 and 1992. She also appeared on Seinfeld three times as Tina, Elaine Benes’ annoying roommate. From there, she transitioned to appearing in movies.
In 2000, Siobhan Fallon Hogan co-starred alongside Björk in Lars von Trier’s Dancer in the Dark as a kind-hearted prison guard. She can also be heard on the soundtrack Selmasongs by Björk, singing a duet on the song “107 Steps”.
In 2003, she portrayed the character of Mrs. Yelnats in the movie Holes, alongside Sigourney Weaver and Shia LaBeouf. She appeared in the film New in Town, which was released on January 30, 2009, starring Renée Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr.
Fallon was responsible for both writing and starring in the 2021 film Rushed, which was co-produced by Lars von Trier’s Zentropa Entertainment and included a performance by Ellen Cleghorne. The movie, which also features Robert Patrick, Jake Weary, and Peri Gilpin, has been acquired for distribution by Vertical Entertainment.
Siobhan Fallon Hogan had no plans to create her second movie, Shelter in Solitude. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the concept suddenly struck her in the middle of the night. Fallon Hogan described it as a form of “divine inspiration.”
Taking place in the Southern region during the initial stages of the pandemic, Shelter in Solitude chronicles the unexpected bond between a convicted inmate named Jackson and his recently appointed guard, Valerie, a former country music star whose career has lost its spark. Faith and isolation serve as key elements in the narrative.
The Boston International Film Festival honored Shelter in Solitude with awards for Best Actress and Best Cinematographer. The film made its debut on September 26 at the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville and is set to hit theaters across the U.S. on October 6.
Personal Life
Siobhan Fallon Hogan, a Catholic, is married to commodities trader Peter Hogan and they are parents to three children: Bernadette, Peter, and Sinead. She has declined any parts that go against her values.
