Who is Tiffanie Lucas?
32-year-old Tiffanie Lucas is facing charges for the fatal shooting of her 6-year-old son, Maurice Baker Jr., and 9-year-old son, Jayden Howard.
According to a detective, she claimed that she would not have committed such an act if someone had not manipulated her. The children were both shot in the head, with four gunshots fired within half a minute.
Following the shooting, Lucas appeared in court via video and without legal representation. Judge Jennifer Porter entered a plea of not guilty on her behalf and ordered her to be held at the Bullitt County Detention Center.
Tiffanie Lucas Legal Charges
Judge Porter, who set bail at $2 million, deemed Lucas to be a threat to others. During the hearing on Tuesday, Detective Richard Beahl of Bullitt County revealed further information about the gruesome killing and the suspect’s alleged statements.
According to reports, Lucas claimed that four shots were discharged within 30 seconds, resulting in both children being shot in the head. When asked about the incident, she allegedly expressed being in a difficult situation and attributed the shooting to being unintentional.
She said,
‘I’m so stupid. I would never do anything like this unless someone manipulated me.’
During the trial, Beahl stated that Lucas claimed to have been controlled by someone through Facebook, the internet, or Wi-Fi, resulting in her actions. The incident was brought to light on November 8, when the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a shooting at a residence in Shepherdsville.
As Tiffanie Lucas’ neighbor arrived at his house, he witnessed the 32-year-old descending the steps of his porch and suddenly falling to the ground. The woman informed him that her children were in dire condition. As he entered her residence, he came upon the lifeless bodies of the boys in a bedroom, with a firearm resting on the bed.
After dialing 911, the neighbor stayed with the boys until EMS arrived and transported them to Norton’s Children’s Hospital in Louisville. Despite undergoing surgery, they unfortunately did not survive their injuries.
Footage from a Ring camera was retrieved by the police from a neighboring residence. The footage captures four gunshots before Tiffanie Lucas emerges and calls for assistance. During questioning, Lucas disclosed leaving the firearm in the bedroom, claiming it was given to her by someone else.
She also confessed that no other individuals had visited the house that day. Initially, Col. Alex Payne stated that the boys were half-siblings, with Jayden’s father passing away in 2019.
Lucas is facing two accusations of murder. The state of Kentucky allows for capital punishment, but it is seldom practiced. The most recent instance of execution was for Marco Allen Chapman, who was found guilty of two counts of murder.
The 32-year-old mother, Tiffanie Lucas, shared extensively retouched pictures of herself and her two sons on Facebook. On Valentine’s Day 2022, she wrote:
‘I love my babies everyday of the year, I will always use any excuse to celebrate them and show them how special they are.’
