Janelle Brown lost her former spouse Adam Barber on October 5, 2023, at the age of 54 after his prolonged battle with terminal cancer. Janelle, a well-known TV figure, and Adam were married for two years, from 1988 to 1990.
Adam Barber’s Wife Janelle Brown
Janelle Brown, of Sister Wives fame, is recognized for her marriage to Kody Brown. However, she had a brief romantic involvement with a man named Adam Barber before tying the knot with Kody on January 20, 1993.
Kody’s initial encounter with Janelle was facilitated by his first wife, Meri Brown. At the time, Kody was seeking a new wife. Janelle expressed interest in becoming part of a spiritual union with him, despite not being raised in a polygamous household like the other Brown wives.
Janelle and Kody, who have a sibling-like relationship, met while she was married to Adam, Meri’s brother. They had been together since 1988. Although it took several years, Janelle eventually became a member of the Brown family in 1990, after divorcing Adam.
After tying the knot, Janelle and Kody had six children, but during her marriage to Adam, they did not have any kids. Radar reported that it was Janelle who initiated the divorce proceedings.
How did Adam Barber & Janelle Brown meet?
As stated in the autobiography Becoming Sister Wives: The Tale of an Unconventional Union, Janelle and Adam were initially introduced during their high school years. They exchanged vows in 1988, but their marriage was short-lived and ended in divorce in 1990.
Janelle recalled in her memoir,
“Toward the end of high school, I met a student named Adam, with whom I was quite taken. I knew he wasn’t Mormon, which meant we had no hope of being together unless he converted.”
The cause of the divorce was kept secret, but Mylketi, daughter of Christine and Kody Brown, disclosed that Adam’s abusive actions were to blame. Additionally, Janelle, who had six children from a previous marriage to Kody, was also a mother in the family.
An article by US Today provided additional information on the divorce agreement in which Adam received three cars and Janelle retained ownership of the house. There has been little disclosure about Adam’s professional and personal life in the past, leaving it a mystery whether he engaged in any social media activity.
There is limited information available about Adam Barber’s present circumstances. There are no pictures of him on the internet, and it appears that he is not using any social media sites. Janelle and Meri do not seem to be following him on Instagram if he even has an account.
Following his divorce from Janelle, Adam tied the knot with Tammy Schultz Barber. The pair are also proud parents to three charming children.
Meri Brown, the sister of Adam Barber, posted a series of pictures on her Instagram account accompanied by a detailed caption discussing her brother’s struggle with cancer.
“About 5 weeks ago I got a text from my brother he had made the decision to not continue his chemo treatment, due to the rapid progression of his cancer & deterioration of his body. Yesterday, Oct 5, 2023, just 2 months short of his 55th birthday, we lost him.”
Meri expressed that she shares numerous memories with Adam Barber and is currently the sole surviving sibling. She disclosed that their sister Teresa passed away from cancer in 2006, while their brother died from heart disease in 2015.
“Now, I understand that it’s not just me. I still have 3 younger sisters with us, the 7 of us just mom’s kids. Plus many other siblings from our large family structure. I don’t yet understand why his passing, and leaving me as the one remaining of the original four, is impacting me like it is.”
