During a recent episode of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg’s unexpected query to co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin left everyone in the studio and viewers at home equally shocked.
Goldberg’s Pregnancy Speculation
In a segment that started typically enough, the conversation took an awkward turn when Goldberg, seemingly out of nowhere, inquired if Griffin was expecting. The suddenness of the question caught Griffin, 34, off-guard, leading her to exclaim, “No! Oh, my God.”
Adding humor to the moment, she said, “You can’t say that when my mother-in-law is here, who has been dying for me to get pregnant.”

Goldberg, without backing down, explained her speculation by mentioning that Griffin looked like she might be pregnant. “I just got a vibe,” she said, trying to justify her statement. “I’m so sorry. Forgive me. I just … you have … I see a glow.”
Griffin responded, stating her desire to be pregnant in the future. “I’m very open to being pregnant soon. I am not blessed to be pregnant yet, but we are thinking about it. We’re working on it. I’m pretty sure [I’m not].”
Co-Hosts React to the Unforeseen Moment
As the atmosphere in the studio became tense, the other co-hosts couldn’t help but react. Joy Behar seemed taken aback by the sudden twist in conversation, while Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin took a moment to absorb the surprise before pitching in.
Hostin, trying to lighten the mood, remarked, “We like babies at ‘The View.’ Because we can have baby showers.” Haines humorously added that Griffin’s “first boy will be named Whoopi,” though Goldberg quickly advised against it.
Audience Feedback: From Shock to Support
Post-show, the audience and social media had a field day discussing the incident. Some believed Goldberg should’ve been more discreet. “For reasons obvious and not-so-obvious, Whoopi should have kept her suspicion to herself and mentioned it to Alyssa Farah Griffin only in private,” commented a viewer.
Another echoed the sentiment, pointing out the inappropriateness of the comment on live TV. Yet, a section of the viewership believed Goldberg might be on to something and encouraged Griffin to consider a pregnancy test.
A Glimpse into Griffin’s Personal Life
For those unaware, Griffin joined “The View” during its 26th season in 2022, filling the void left by Meghan McCain. Griffin’s personal life has also been in the limelight, especially her relationship with Justin Griffin. The duo, engaged in 2020, exchanged vows in November 2021.
In light of the recent incident, it’s evident that live television can be unpredictable, even for seasoned professionals like the hosts of “The View.” Whether it’s a cause for criticism or simply a testament to the authenticity of the show remains a matter of personal perspective.
