Taylor Kinney, an actor best known for playing Kelly Severide on “Chicago Fire,” is stepping away from the NBC drama. The actor is taking a leave of absence to handle a personal situation.
Kinney has been the series’ protagonist ever since it premiered in 2012, claims US news source Variety. In addition to the firefighting series, he has appeared in all of the spinoffs, including “Chicago Med,” “Chicago P.D.,” and the brief “Chicago Justice.”
The “One Chicago” universe has undergone a great deal of change recently, especially in “Chicago Fire.” Jesse Spencer left the show in 2021 after 200 episodes, but he made a brief cameo in the Season 10 finale when Kinney’s Severide married Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo).
The co-creator, Derek Haas, leaves Wolf Entertainment at the conclusion of Season 11. He served as the showrunner for “Chicago Fire” for its entire 11-season run as well as for CBS’ “FBI: International.”

Furthermore, Jesse Lee Soffer’s exit from “Chicago P.D.” has shocked many. He made his final appearance in an episode of the police drama in October after acting in the show for ten seasons, when his character joined an Army force following the Cartel in Bolivia for eight weeks. During the most recent episode, he called his wife Hailey (Tracy Spiridakos) to inform her that he would be staying here for longer.
This season on “Chicago Med,” there have been a lot of changes, with Guy Lockard, Sarah Rafferty, and Asjha Cooper all leaving the program after briefly returning to the show in a recurring position. Yaya DaCosta and Brian Tee, a regular on the show, left in the midst of the episode.
We’ll just be here waiting for Taylor to return whenever he’s ready.
