It is still unknown whether Batman will appear in Aquaman 2, despite the fact that they may have battled together in Justice League.
When asked by director James Wan whether the Dark Knight himself will show up in Jason Momoa‘s latest adventure as the King of Atlantis.
“The tricky thing early on was not knowing whether Aquaman would come out first or come out after [The Flash]. So, we just had to be prepared,” Wan explained. “At the end of the day, the best thing I would say about this movie is that it is not connected in any way to any of those films. That’s the bottom line.” When pressed on whether fans can expect to see Batman, the filmmaker simply responded with “That’s a ‘no comment,’ right now. You’re going to have to wait for the movie to come out.”
So the question is Batman in “Aquaman 2?”
Are ‘Batman’ And ‘Aquaman’ Uniting?
The Caped Crusader was rumored to appear in some capacity throughout the lengthy production of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, with some saying he would make a cameo and other sources suggesting his part would be more substantial. In the middle of 2022, rumors surfaced that James Wan was ordered to cut a scene from the film that featured Ben Affleck as Batman by supposed current DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. Although these were never confirmed, Momoa expressed his excitement to be collaborating with Affleck once more in a personal Instagram post, which led many to feel a cameo was unavoidable. Warner Bros, Discovery has not provided any additional information about the situation.
Additionally, the “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” trailer doesn’t provide any answers. Batman is nowhere to be discovered, and given that Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is seeking to take Aquaman’s throne and kill his family, it would be difficult for him to play any kind of significant part. It’s not like Bruce Wayne can provide a helping hand when he wants, considering that a large portion of the movie takes place underwater. If Batman is going to make an appearance at all, it will probably be in the form of a quick cameo, much like Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman did in “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.”
The new DCEU has grossly neglected Michael Keaton’s Batman. He was intended to be in “Batgirl,” but that movie was wrongfully shelved in order to qualify for a tax write-off. He was apparently going to show up in “Aquaman 2,” but that’s not happening right now. Ben Affleck’s Batman might make an appearance, but it’s possible DC just wants “Aquaman 2” to stand alone.
Affleck gave Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) a speech about the value of letting the past go in “The Flash,” giving the character a respectable send-off. Maybe spectators should do the same and accept that Affleck won’t be returning. There’s also a chance DC wants to keep a Batman appearance secret until the film comes out. We won’t know anything for sure until “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” comes out on December 20.
Following the events of the previous movie, Arthur Curry will have to defend himself and his family from the evil Black Manta in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The lethal assassin, who seeks retribution for the death of his father, which he attributes to Arthur Curry, finds a magical object known as the Black Trident, which endows him with incredible power and could ultimately destroy Atlantis. For now, there is no official word on whether the recent changes will affect the movie’s release date once again or not.
