Game of Thrones season 8 has just begun and things have started to get interesting. By now, we know everyone’s intentions and motives, more or less. But, Bran Stark has always been a mystery man. He doesn’t talk much, but apparently, he is the actual reason why the Night King will come to destroy Winterfell.

The mystery around Bran’s character in Game of Thrones season 8 is making it difficult for us to guess his fate. But, hey, it’s all about fan theories and predictions, right? There’s a new theory around the block that might help us predict Bran’s fate.
The direwolves and their owners
A redditor with the username u/memphis_baal suggests that the names of the direwolves reveal their owners’ fates. Let’s see how that works out.
Summer: Bran is born and he dies in the summer.
Lady: Sansa Stark becomes the Lady of Winterfell.
Shaggy Dog: Rickon’s story is like a shaggy dog’s story; it doesn’t lead anywhere.
Ghost: Jon Snow comes back from the dead.
Grey Wind: Robb Stark creates a strong wind which brings rain but doesn’t last for long.
Nymeria: Arya Stark becomes a warrior princess.
What does the theory mean?
The theory is not crystal clear because the words Grey Wind and Shaggy dog are difficult to analyse. Also, the word Nymeria also doesn’t directly lead to Arya becoming a warrior princess. Lady and Ghost are crystal clear fate declarers. Which leaves us with Bran and Summer.
When Game of Thrones starts, it is the end of summer in Westeros. Let’s remind you that in Game of Thrones, seasons can last for many years. Here, summer had lasted for almost a decade, since Bran was 11 years old when the story started. Now, winter has finally come to Westeros in Game of Thrones season 8. And it will last for decades to come. The implication of the theory would be that Bran will survive the long night and see summer once again.
But, Bran is the three eyed Raven and he is the Night King’s primary target. Plus, he is a cripple. And also, even if he survives the battle, it is highly unlikely that he will live long enough to see the upcoming summer.
How can Bran Stark survive in Game of Thrones season 8?
Nevertheless, there are two ways through which Bran might make it. The first option is that being the Three-eyed Raven gives him a really long lifespan. So, if he survives the Night King’s attack, he will live long enough for the next summer.
And if Bran dies in the summer, the Azor Ahai prophecy might come true in Game of Thrones season 8. Because, if Azor Ahai rises again, the long night will cease to exist and an eternal summer will remain. So, if Bran ever has to die, he will die in the summer (because it will be eternal).
But all of these are just theories and we need to see of Bran survives the Battle of Winterfell.
