Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 has been announced right after Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 wrapped up! Amidst the growing excitement, fans are still concerned about how Mappa will handle the animation of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3.
It is not a new story how Mappa Studio was in the light of controversy over the past few months, and no, things seemed to have degraded even more after Mappa announced Chainsaw Man Movie, with the rumors saying that One Punch Man Season 3 is still on the card this year! Given the negative reputation of the studio and the excitement surrounding Mappa’s animations, will Mappa proceed with Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 soon? So far, this is what we know!
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: A Tarnished Reputation Of Mappa Amidst The Hype
Earlier this week, the announcement of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 by Mappa was made right after the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. Usually, fans are excited to hear the update on their favorite series, but this time, the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom is concerned about the animators. There are worries that Mappa might not do justice to Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, and fans are not sure about the working conditions of the animators.
The Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 animators had approximately six months to animate the series. Moreover, the same team had to work on Chainsaw Man Season 1 simultaneously, leading to severe work stress among the animators and causing them to have mental breakdowns. There have been a series of meltdowns of the animators recently, and all of them have taken to Twitter to apologize to the fans for an “incomplete episode.” This situation has also revealed how toxic the behind-the-scenes of the anime industry are.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: Release Date Expectations Of Mappa
Mappa has not revealed anything about Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 except for releasing a teaser trailer. However, there are rumors that Mappa plans to release Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 in late 2024 or choose an early date of 2025. This rumor has caused the fans to worry even more, as Jujutsu Kaisen is not the only project Mappa is dealing with. Last month, the Chainsaw Man movie was announced, with rumors to be released in late 2024. This again brings the animators back to square one. If Mappa indeed has plans to release both these popular anime series simultaneously, fans fear the animation quality might degrade even more.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 and Chainsaw Man Movie: Can Mappa Maintain Its Magic?
Before adapting the Culling Game arc, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will have Itadori’s Extermination Arc and Perfect Preparation Arc, which are barely 22 chapters long, and the Culling Game arc includes 63 chapters and is just as significant as the infamous Shibuya incident. Fans want Mappa to take time before diving into the series for now. Similarly, the Chainsaw Man movie will cover the Bomb Girl Devil arc and is also considered significant for the series to progress.
Mappa’s magic with the animation quality has been a popular topic among the anime community. With both Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 and Chainsaw Man movies produced simultaneously, there is a lot of pressure not only on the animators but also on the studio itself. If Mappa fails to maintain its magical standards, it may risk losing Jujutsu Kaisen to another studio in the future.
