Furies, the first Netflix Vietnam Original movie, was released in March 2023 and has garnered much attention. The film is directed by Vietnamese superstar Veronica Ngo, who also stars alongside big names like Song Luan, Dong Anh Quynh, Toc Tien, and Rima Thanh Vy. Focusing on Jacqueline and her group of vigilantes, the high-chase action movie is a prequel to Furie. But the question on everyone’s mind is: will there be a Furies 2?
What are Furies about?
Set in the 1990s Saigon, Furies is a revenge drama about a group of girls seeking justice for women oppressed and abused by powerful and corrupt men. Jacqueline trains Bi, Thanh, and Hong to become martial arts experts and assigns them their first mission: take down the Big 4, who are involved in every crime possible, from drug smuggling to gambling and sex trafficking. But as the girls start dismantling their business, their plans begin to unravel, and dangerous secrets are uncovered.

Will there be a Furies 2?
At the time of writing, no sequel to Furies has been announced. However, it should be noted that Furies is the second film in the Furie series and a prequel to the 2019 film. If filmmaker-actress Veronica Ngo decides to make a follow-up, we could get a sequel to Furies.
Netflix typically greenlights sequels for their original films if they perform well critically and globally. With that in mind, there’s a good chance that Furies 2 could be renewed.
What could happen in Furies 2?
Although Furies is a prequel to Furie, it doesn’t make sense as Veronica’s character, Jacqueline, is supposedly killed in Furies. She is later seen as a mother, Hai Phuong, who uses her old gangster connection to search for her kidnapped daughter. It is plausible that Hai Phuong and Jacqueline are the same characters, but we may need a sequel to explain how.
As Jacqueline appears to die at the end of Furies, some explanation is needed to show her alive and well, connecting it to the events of Furie. Furies 2 could also follow Bi, who was imprisoned for 15 years and is seen smirking as she walks off after being freed.
Alternatively, another prequel could focus on Hong and Thanh and how they joined forces with Jacqueline.
When could Furies 2 be released?
Furie was released in 2019, and the prequel was set to have a theatrical release in 2022 before going to Netflix in March 2023. With Veronica Ngo currently busy with Old Guard 2, it may take some time before Furies 2 is released. Readers should watch for updates because there is no official news about a second movie.
