George RR Martin’s next book in the A Song Of Ice And Fire series, Winds of Winter, is already exciting the readers long before it releases.
Given that the events of Season 7 and Season 8 are yet to be seen in the books, there is a lot of anticipation in the readers’ community about when the next book will come out and what it will have to offer upon release.

Winds of Winter Release Date: When Will The Book Come Out?
Fans of the ASOIAF series have been waiting for the release of this book since 2011 when A Dance with Dragons came out. While George RR Martin has not confirmed as to when the Winds of Winter will come out, many expect that it will indeed release some time in 2019. Given that Martin had eight years in between to write the two books, most of the manuscript is likely to be ready.
However, the reason why he isn’t officially releasing the book is that HBOs TV Show Game of Thrones is still on-air. However, once the show ends on the 19th of May, Martin is likely to release his next book shortly after that.
Why His Book Will Come Out After Game of Thrones Ends
Given that Martin was heavily involved with the production of the show, it is likely that he only had limited time to write the last two books. However, Winds of Winter is also expected to release after Game of Thrones ends because the show has moved beyond the books written by George RR Martin.
While Winds of Winter is yet to come out, portions of Game of Thrones Season 8 and Season 7 are based off the forthcoming book. Hence, Martin is likely to change the plot of the books so that fans of the books do not get the exact same ending as the TV show and they still have a reason to buy and read his books.
What Comes After Winds of Winter?
A Song of Ice and Fire has seven books – while Winds of Winter is the sixth in the series, the final book will be ‘A Dream of Spring’. This will be the seventh and the last book in the series, a portion of which is currently being explored in Game of Thrones. The book is likely to begin from what happens after Arya Stark kills the Night King.

While the book is far from release, the cover design of Winds of Winter is ready since quite some time now. In late 2015-early 2016 an image was making rounds on social media featuring the image of a horn (which is blown to alert citizens of a White Walker invasion). This was confirmed by Martin himself in January 2016.
