In tragic news, a woman died waiting for 7 hours in a hospital. The husband, gutted after the news blames the crumbling healthcare system. Allison Holthoff was just 37. She was going through a very bad stomach ache on December 31st of 2022. Along with her husband Gunter, Allison was carried to the hospital. Her condition worsened on the way to ER. They arrived at Cumberland Reginal Health Care facility in Nova Scotia at 11 in the morning.
Allison gave a urine sample to the nurse at her request. Allison’s condition made her rely on her husband to assist her. Gunter took her to the restroom but he couldn’t assist her and Allison fell down on the floor. Security immediately rushed in and 2 guards were kind enough to offer assistance to them. They were back in the waiting again.
All the wait just made it even worse for Allison. Her pain got so unbearable, even sitting wasn’t possible for her. She lay down on the floor Gunter said .”I told the nurses and the lady at the desk there a couple of times, ‘It is getting worse,’ and nothing happened.”

He also added, “So the security guards, in time, they brought a couple of blankets out and they brought us a cup of water and I used it to put some ice on her lips.”Gunter and Allison couldn’t do anything but wait for a doctor. Allison got vocal about the seriousness of the pain she was into. Gunter said, “I think that she actually started saying that she thought she was dying in the waiting room outside.”She kept saying it more and more. She said, ‘I think I’m dying. Don’t let me die here,'”.
Eventually, the wait was over for the couple. After a waiting time of 7 hours, Allison got a room with a bed. Allison prepared for an x-ray right after the doctor gave her pain medication. Things before accepted a weakening as Allison was unable to breathe. Her eyes were shutting down from the frantic. The range was saturated accompanying the healing stick as Gunter was narrated to wait outside. A doctor approached visualize the troubled spouse and conversant him that they had resuscitated Allison on three occasions, but she had unluckily expired.
Moreover, Gunter explained that Allison spent enough time without sufficient blood flow. He said -“Even if she would have survived at that point … she had too long a time without sufficient blood flow to the brain and vital organs. It would have been not a life worth living,”
Gunter his dissatisfaction with the health care system. He continues: “We need change, the system is obviously broken. Or if it’s not broken yet, it’s not too far off. Something needs to improve. I don’t want anybody else to go through this.”He added “Unfortunately, I feel like we were neglected until it was to a point they couldn’t ignore us anymore. At that point, it was just too late.”
The Canadian Border tweeted, “Heatrbroken to learn of the death of Allison Holthoff, Deputy Fire Chief and a mom of three kids, who died in hospital after waiting seven hours to see a doctor. Happy f’n New Year. This is not the health care we deserve.”
