In Brazil, a woman made history when she gave birth to the biggest baby her state had ever seen. The baby was 2 feet tall and weighed more than 16 pounds.
Officials from the Hospital Padre Colombo, shared the good news on social media, as reported by a source. They said that 27-year-old mom Cleidiane Santos dos Santos gave birth to a baby boy via C-section on January 18 in Parintins, Amazonas State.
The big bubba, who was given the name Angerson Santos, came into the world weighing an impressive 16.1 pounds and standing 1.9357 feet tall.
The state record for the biggest baby born before this was 13 pounds and 1.8 feet tall.
This means that Angerson weighs more than twice as much as the average newborn. The average weight of a newborn boy, according to the CDC, is 7 pounds and 6 ounces.
Not-so-little Angerson was born by C-section because his mom, Cleidiane, would have been much too small to carry him to full term.
After he was born, the hospital said that Angerson had been put in an incubator but that he was in good health and showing no signs of anything wrong.
But all of the clothes that Angerson’s parents bought for him don’t fit because he’s already twice as big as the average newborn baby.
So, the people who work at the Hospital Padre Colombo have started a fundraiser to help his parents get everything they need. Also, kind people in the area can donate things like extra-large diapers and clothes for babies aged 9 to 12 months.
Even though Angerson is a big baby, he is nowhere near the world record for being the heaviest baby ever born.
The Guinness Book of World Records says that the heaviest baby ever was a boy born to a healthy mother in 1955 in Aversa, Italy. In that case, the baby weighed an unbelievable 22 pounds and 8 ounces!
Congrats to the whole family!
