A woman is going viral after she says she’s never washed her bedding and that her mattress is about “100 years old.”
In an episode of Channel 4’s TV show Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners, which stars Cornelia Bayley, like-minded people clean up Britain’s dirtiest and filthiest homes.
Even though the cleaners on the show have faced some pretty tough problems, nothing could have prepared them for their trip to Bayley’s house.

In the episode, the retired antique dealer, who was around 74 years old when it aired, said that it was hard for her to keep her 10-bedroom, Grade I-listed 17th-century manor in north Wales clean.
Even though it makes sense that it would be hard to keep such a big house clean, Bayley’s shocking confession left Hayley and Dan speechless.
Hayley asks the homeowner:
Cornelia, when was the bedding last washed?
Bayley responds:
Never.
Surprised, Hayley asks:
It’s never been washed? What about the mattress? Do you clean the mattresses?
Dan then pitches in, asking:
How old is the mattress,
and Bayley replies:
It could be 100 years old, or something. You know, this is how people used to live years ago – and I still live like that.
When it comes time for Hayley and Dan to actually clean the house later in the episode, Bayley sets one rule.
The two can’t use any cleaning products. Instead, they can only use water and a sponge to clean.
After Bayley says this, Hayley asks:
It doesn’t kill bacteria then, does it?
To which the homeowner comments:
The bacteria can live here, I couldn’t care less.
Hayley has talked about how hard it was to clean the house on YouTube and admitted that she had a “bit of a breakdown.”
That was the first hurdle for me, and instantly I was like, ‘This is going to go downhill very, very quickly’,
she explained.
Because I was thinking in my mind things like, ‘How am I gonna get these toilets clean? What am I gonna use to clean the sink drains and put down the drains and stuff?’.
Even though it wasn’t up to Hayley’s usual standards, she told the two that she was “happy” with their hard work in the end.
Plas Teg, which belongs to Bayley, is closed to the public right now because it needs structural repairs.
