WWE’s Alexa Bliss Shares Update on Skin Cancer Treatment and Recovery
Alexa Bliss’s Recent Absence Explained
Although Alexa Bliss has not appeared on WWE television since the Royal Rumble in January, the former Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion recently took to Instagram to explain her absence. Bliss revealed that she had undergone treatment for skin cancer found on the side of her face.
Dear younger me, you should have stayed out of tanning beds. All clear now though! Thank you [American Skin Institute] for taking care of me!
Bliss Provides More Context on Twitter
Bliss also shared more information about her experience on Twitter, emphasizing the importance of regularly checking your skin, especially if you spend a lot of time in the sun or use tanning beds. She stated:
Don’t worry, short healing time. Always get your skin checked! Esp if you are in the sun or use tanning beds! Lol. …There was a spot on my face yes – that had gotten worse. So went to get (a) biopsy. Was basal cell carcinoma. During my procedure doc also found other squamous cells. Was a quick and easy procedure. Glad I always get my skin checked.
Uncertainty Surrounding Bliss’s WWE Return
It remains unclear when Bliss will return to WWE television. Earlier this month, Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer newsletter reported that Bliss was on a hiatus. However, Bliss later clarified on Twitter that she is “not on hiatus” and “they know where to find me.” The 31-year-old WWE superstar has been with the company since 2013, starting with NXT before moving to the main roster in 2016.
Bliss’s Achievements and Future Plans
Throughout her career, Bliss has won the RAW Women’s Championship three times, the SmackDown Championship twice, and the Women’s Tag Team Championship three times. She is the second Women’s Triple Crown Champion in WWE history, following Bayley.
In a December interview with the USA Network, Bliss discussed the possibility of working with Bray Wyatt again and her interest in continuously evolving her character. She shared her enthusiasm for portraying different versions of herself and her fun with the “Dark Alexa” character.
