The thrilling drama series Yellowjackets returns for its second season on Showtime on March 26. The show follows a group of high school girls’ soccer team who survived a plane crash in 1996 and the consequences of the incident on their adult lives. Season 1 was a critical hit, leaving fans eagerly waiting to see what happens next to the survivors. Here’s what you need to know before the second season starts.

Main Characters

Yellowjackets primarily focus on four survivors of the plane crash: Shauna Shipman, Taissa Turner, Misty Quigley, and Natalie “Nat” Scatorccio. Each woman has dealt with their trauma differently, leading to extraordinary differences in their adult life.

Shauna married Jeff, her best friend Jackie’s high school boyfriend. After an affair with Adam, Shauna was led to believe that he was the blackmailer, but it was Jeff. He blackmailed her friends to protect Shauna from the truth that he owed money to dangerous loan sharks. Despite the ordeal, Shauna and Jeff’s marriage seems to have been strengthened by the experience.

Taissa, who became a politician in New Jersey, experienced mysterious bouts of sleepwalking while lost in the wild, and the behavior has returned. Her marriage and relationship with her son were left vulnerable, and her wife, Simone, found an altar with the head of their dead dog and a human heart in a secluded section of their basement.

Misty became a hospice nurse obsessed with true crime, with few meaningful relationships. She killed Jessica Roberts, a fake reporter hired by Taissa, to protect her friends from being exposed by the blackmailer.

Nat struggled with substance abuse in response to her trauma. She was convinced the blackmailer was also responsible for killing Travis, a boy she loved, while stranded in the woods. The blackmail had nothing to do with Travis’ death, and Nat nearly committed suicide before being kidnapped by members of a cult wearing the mysterious symbol they found in the woods as teenagers.

The Blackmailer

The first three women, Nat, Misty, and Taissa, were reunited with Shauna because they received a note from an unknown blackmailer threatening to expose what the girls did while they were lost in the wilderness. The true extent of their actions has yet to be revealed, but cults and cannibalism have already been uncovered.

The second season of Yellowjackets promises to be just as thrilling as the first, with Lottie, a cult leader and fellow crash survivor, set to be a significant character. Will the survivors finally reveal what happened in the wilderness, and will they be able to overcome their trauma and move on with their lives? Tune in to Showtime on March 26 to find out.
