The mysterious disappearance of YouTuber and hiker Kenny Veach continues to raise questions almost ten years later after he vanished. The hiker reportedly discovered a hidden cave near Area 51 in 2014 and documented his discovery. After publishing his video on YouTube, his fans urged the 47-year-old to investigate the cave further which resulted in his disappearance.
What happened to Kenny Veach?
The 47-year-old YoutTuber first shared his experience of discovering the M Cave in a comment section under Sirius Disclosure’s Son of Area 51 Technician‘s YouTube video. He stated that he felt vibrations in his body when he entered the mysterious cave.
“One time during one of my hikes out by Nellis Air Force Base, I found a hidden cave. The entrance to the cave was shaped like a perfect capital M. I always enter every cave I find, but as I began to enter this particular cave, my whole body began to vibrate. The closer I got to the cave entrance, the worse the vibrating became. Suddenly I became very scared and high-tailed it out of there.”
When his comment started getting a lot of attention, he was encouraged by his followers to revisit the cave and document the experience. While Kenny Veach was apprehensive about visiting the location, he took on the challenge to prove the trollers wrong. Responding to a comment, Kenny said-
“No. I solo hike across mountain tops that most people wouldn’t dare go. I have been in more caves than I can count. I play with rattlesnakes for fun. But this one particular cave was beyond anything I had ever encountered. Someday I will go back and I will bring a weapon with me. All I had at the time was a knife and a wrist-rocket.”
In 2014, Kenny Veach documented his hike to locate the cave with weapons to defend himself from mountain lions and other unknown dangers that could be present in Nevada’s Mojave desert.
The hiker’s video has reached over 3.8 million views so far. Although, he was unsuccessful in finding the cave. When a concerned Kenny Veach follower asked if he got back safe, he replied-
“I got back from a ten hour hike yesterday. I completely searched the whole damned canyon. I could not relocate the cave. I found a tarantula, a tortoise and a ram, but I could not find the cave. I don’t know if you have ever climbed up and down a mountain for ten hours, but it wore me out. All I got out of it were some nice photos and a big bag full of pinion nuts. This is the perfect time of year to find pinion nuts. Thanks for asking.”
How did Kenny Veach disappear?
Even though Kenny Veach posted a video showing how he was unable to locate the M Cave despite his best effort, he was adamant about proving himself right. Kenny was actively responding to queries and trolls under Sirius Disclosure‘s comment section. He stated that he would try to find the cave again and venture on a three-day hike. He wrote-
“I’m going again this weekend. I will be hiking solo for three days. I plan on covering about forty miles. I will cross through the same canyon where I found the cave. If I don’t find it again, I will just continue hiking over mountain after mountain to the North of the canyon.
He also added that during his numerous hikes, he has entered a lot of caves but none feared him as much as M Cave did.
There is no guarantee that I will find the cave again. The region that I cover is vast. There are many caves. I have been in hundreds of them. The M cave is the only cave I ever feared going inside. I really want to find it again.”
Interestingly, a commenter named Lemi Killmister had warned Kenny to not visit the cave again.
“No! Do not go back there. If you find that cave entrance, don’t go in, if you do, you won’t get out.”
Kenny replied to Lemi asking, “What makes you say that?” No one heard from the hiker after he ventured on his forty-mile hike. Under his famous M Cave video, there was a comment from Sheryon Pilgrim who claimed to be Kenny Veach’s girlfriend. She informed his followers of Kenny’s disappearance via the comment section. She wrote-
“I didn’t realize until today that there were comments on this hiking video. I am Kenny’s girlfriend that he mentioned in the video. We went on many nany wonderful hikes together in our Nevada desert. Many of the hikes were 8 or 9 hrs long and we always took beautiful pictures. Kenny left for an over night hike in this same area on Monday Nov 10th. Today is Dec 10th. He did not return when he was supposed to and I called missing persons. They have been searching for him and have not found him.”
“I did not want to leave his wonderful video and this site just hanging and having you wonder why he has not responded. @jameslacey01….. Thank you for suggesting the GPS. I talked with him before about using GPS for safety reasons. He just never seam to want to use one. He loved just being out in the desert and just finding his own way. I am aching with missing his physical presence
Please encourage all the solo hikers you know to use a GPS.”
According to News 3 Las Vegas, Kenny’s phone was found near a mine shaft cave. The Red Rock Search & Rescue Commander, Dave Cummings told the outlet-
“We found his cell phone close to a very vertical old mine shaft and we can’t find another trail. It doesn’t mean that he’s down the mine shaft, but we have tracked him as far as we can. We are having our other crews come in from the search areas.”
The search was completed and Kenny was never found. Reportedly, there were cameras sent down the mining shaft to look for the YouTuber, but nothing was found.
