The San Antonio Spurs have stocked up their draft capital in recent times by trading some young players. Even though they are doing great in the current season, an NBA writer believes that the Spurs could acquire Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls.
Could San Antonio Spurs Be the Surprise Destination for Zach LaVine?
Zach LaVine is one of the most talented players on the Chicago Bulls’ roster. He is a highly talented scorer who is currently on the trading block.
Jonah Kubicek of FanNation on Sports Illustrated believes that the Spurs could acquire LaVine from the Bulls. The Spurs already have some of the best players in the league, whether it be the superstar Victor Wembanyama or other quality players like Devin Vassell, Zach Collins, and Jeremy Sochan.
If the Spurs acquire Zach from the Chicago Bulls, they would be the serious title contenders with Wembanyama and LaVine on the roster.
LaVine is one of the best ball-handlers and a leading playmaker for the Bulls. The Spurs could also utilize him as their primary floor spacer.
Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic together this season: 98.1 offensive rating, 118.8 defensive rating, -20.8 net in 150 minutes.
The Mid-3 has had a negative net rating every year together, and it's only getting worse. This version of the Bulls is completely cooked.

By trading Zach LaVine to San Antonio, the Bulls would look for a high-return draft capital.
Kubicek wrote:
“A deal of three first-round picks (maybe returning Chicago’s 2025 selection?) and salary filler on shorter contracts should do the trick, but if LaVine returns to All-Star form, the Bulls could hold out for an even larger asking price. The Spurs would have to sacrifice some depth to get a deal done, and with no rush on Wembanyama’s development, the organization might not want to do that.”

The Bulls are currently in nowhere position to run for the title. They are in a .500 position right now, but by moving LaVine and gaining some draft capital, they could rebuild their roster.
On the other hand, the San Antonio Spurs are currently one of the best NBA teams in the league. In the last match, they wiped off Phoenix Suns by 132-121, and they are currently 3-2 in the NBA 2023-24 Season.
