Shazam 2 might just be in the making since the first part is turning out to be a huge success. Recently, Shazam! star Zachary Levi admitted that he hoped to have Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) in Shazam 2. He said,
“I hope so! I don’t have a crystal ball.”
The Rock as Black Adam in Shazam 2
Levi said that according to Shazam’s early draft, Johnson was supposed to play the role of a super villain called Black Adam. But, sadly it didn’t happen.
Levi said,
“A few years ago, it was announced that Johnson would be playing the role of Black Adams. And they started writing the script accordingly. But, they realized that they could not narrate two origin stories fully in the given time.”
Shazam vs Black Adam
Shazam! narrates the story of Billy Batson, who is a young boy, but he turns into an adult superhero. Asher Angel plays the role of Billy Batson and Zachary Levi is the superhero.
The superhero mode gets turned on when Batson says the word Shazam and he gets the power of six ancient gods. Back in 1945, Black Adam, who is Shazam’s arch nemesis, was introduced.
Levi admitted that it was a wise choice to split the two characters. So, now Black Adam can probably get a solo origin story, most probably Shazam 2. He said,
“I would love to fight this character. It will be an iconic fight.”
Back in 2014, there were many speculations that Dwayne Johnson will play Black Adam. even though Black Adam is actually a super villain, he has been recently shown as an anti-hero.
In 2017, when Johnson’s solo movie was announced, he said that Black Adam was the most ruthless villain of all times. But the hype died down soon enough. Since Johnson has been busy with other projects, it is highly likely that Black Adam in Shazam 2 won’t happen.
